Overview

Billing is how you pay for what your agents do. This page gives you the big picture β€” what a credit is, the two kinds of credit, where billing lives in the dashboard, and the two ways to get more credit. Everything else in this section drills into one of these topics.

What billing covers

Every time an agent does something β€” answers a question, searches the web, transcribes audio β€” it spends a little credit. Billing is simply the system that keeps your credit balance topped up and shows you where it went.

A credit is the unit that pays for agent activity. You don't need to count individual credits in your head; the dashboard tracks them for you. Just remember the simple rule: agents do work, work spends credit, and you keep credit available.

Free vs Paid credit

There are two types of credit, and the app marks each one with a small chip:

TypeWhere it comes fromNotes
FreeComplimentary credit, e.g. when you start out.May expire after a while.
PaidCredit you've bought as a top-up, or that a subscription grants you.The credit you rely on for ongoing use.

When credit is spent, Free credit is generally used up first so you get the most out of it before it expires. You'll see the Free and Paid chips throughout the billing screens.

Where billing lives

The home of billing is the My Credit page in the dashboard.

Open My Credit

It is organized into tabs:

  • Overview β€” your current balance, a snapshot of usage, and quick actions.
  • Transaction β€” your payment and top-up history.
  • Billing β€” subscription and billing details.
  • Payment Method β€” shown when the legacy payment gateway is active, for managing saved cards.

Tip: Bookmark My Credit β€” it's the one place you'll return to for anything billing-related.

Two ways to get credit

There are exactly two ways to add Paid credit:

WayWhat it isBest for
One-time top-upA single purchase that adds credit to your balance right away.Topping up when you need it, paying only for what you use.
SubscriptionA recurring plan that grants credit on a schedule.Steady, predictable monthly usage.

Both are covered in detail later: see Buying Credits and Subscription Plans.

A note on organizations

Credit is tracked at the user level, but usage can be viewed per organization (which requires the Billing role in that organization). The idea of an organization sharing one credit pool, and how the Billing role works, is covered separately in Credits & the Billing Role.
