Qontak

This tutorial walks you through connecting your qlar agent to a WhatsApp Business number using Qontak as your WhatsApp Business API provider.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • An active Qontak account.
  • A WhatsApp Business number registered through Qontak.
  • Your Channel Integration ID — a GUID provided by Qontak after you complete the channel registration on their platform (e.g., 6d25a1e6-4b3c-4e7a-b12f-3c8d5e9f1a2b).

Note: The Channel Integration ID may not be available immediately. qlar allows you to save the configuration without it and add the ID later once Qontak provides it. You can proceed with the setup now and come back to Step 5 when you have the ID.

Step 1 — Open Channel Settings

  1. Open the CMS dashboard and select the agent you want to connect.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Channel.
  3. Click the WhatsApp tab.
  4. Choose which configuration to set up: Published Configuration (for live users) or Draft Configuration (for testing). Click the corresponding tab.

Note: You can configure both tabs independently. Start with Draft to test first, then repeat the steps for Published when ready to go live.

Step 2 — Start the Setup Wizard

If no WhatsApp number has been connected yet, a setup wizard appears.

  1. In the Protocol dropdown, select Qontak.
  2. In the Channel Integration ID field, enter the GUID provided by Qontak — or leave it blank for now if Qontak has not provided it yet.
  3. Click Save (or the confirmation button in the wizard).

The wizard closes and the full configuration form loads.

Tip: The Channel Integration ID field is optional during the initial setup for Qontak. You can save the configuration first and add the ID later.

Step 3 — Register the Webhook (Set Endpoint)

Unlike Meta Cloud and Coster, Qontak uses a dedicated Set Endpoint button to register qlar's webhook address directly with the Qontak platform.

  1. In the configuration form, click Set Endpoint.
  2. qlar sends a registration request to Qontak to set the callback URL for your channel.
  3. Wait for the confirmation message. Once successful, the Session Management section becomes visible.

Warning: The Set Endpoint action contacts Qontak's API on your behalf. Make sure your Qontak account is active and the Channel Integration ID is correct before clicking this button. An incorrect ID will cause the registration to fail.

Step 4 — Enter the Channel Integration ID

If you saved the configuration in Step 2 without a Channel Integration ID, add it now:

  1. Locate the Channel Integration ID field in the form.
  2. Enter the GUID provided by Qontak, for example 6d25a1e6-4b3c-4e7a-b12f-3c8d5e9f1a2b.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Then click Set Endpoint again (Step 3) to register the webhook with the correct ID.

Step 5 — Save and Verify

Click the Save button at the bottom of the form.

To verify the connection is working:

  1. Send a test message to your WhatsApp Business number from a personal WhatsApp account.
  2. The message should appear in your agent's conversation history in the CMS dashboard.
  3. Your agent should respond automatically based on its configuration.

Tip: If messages are not arriving after clicking Set Endpoint, confirm the Channel Integration ID is a valid GUID from Qontak and that your Qontak account has the correct permissions for webhook configuration.

What's Next

  • Repeat these steps for the Draft Configuration tab using a separate Qontak test channel if you want a safe environment for testing changes.
  • To go live, make sure your agent is published and the Published Configuration tab is fully saved.
  • See Connect WhatsApp for an overview of the dual-config concept and Session Management settings.
